Editorial verdict

JumpCloud has built the most compelling IAM platform for the mid-market segment that Microsoft Active Directory left underserved. The cloud-based directory that unifies device management, SSO, and MFA without requiring on-premises AD infrastructure is genuinely differentiated for organisations that want to go fully cloud-native.

The capability ceiling at enterprise scale is real. Above 5,000 users, the IGA capabilities for access certification, SOD controls, and complex lifecycle automation are less mature than Okta. The 700 plus app integrations, while solid for mid-market, are significantly narrower than Okta's 7,000 plus. The Gartner Customers Choice 2025 recognition reflects strong mid-market validation rather than enterprise leadership.

The verdict: JumpCloud is right for mid-market organisations wanting to replace on-premises Active Directory with a cloud-native directory that includes device management and IAM. Enterprises above 5,000 users with complex IGA requirements should evaluate Okta or Microsoft Entra ID.
